Are you familiar with the books "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and " If You Give a Pig a Pancake"? If so, this is what happened in my first half hour of awake time....in that story format. If you haven't heard of these books, they are well worth the read. Basically, the drift of the books are, for each activity you do, there is an outcome...and its not necessarily good!
If You Take a Toddler From Her Crib,
You'll want to open her window to welcome in the morning sun.
When you are doing that, she'll wander into the bathroom (because someone left the door open).
I'll hear splashing of water, I notice that she is all wet (the toilet...yuck)!
As I take off her wet pj's, I'll wash her and dry her with a towel and send her out of the bathroom.
I'll quickly wash my hands and tie back my hair...only to hear the fridge door open!
As I run to the kitchen, my toddler is holding a yogurt tube( bright fushia in colour) and which was previously opened and placed into the fridge by her sibling. She is holding it upside down, waving her arms in the air (like she just don't care) and with fushia liquid flying everywhere.
As I contain the child, I pick her up and place her into the highchair. Only to notice that I have pink goop all over me, the walls, chairs, floors and the living room carpet that is in another room! Augh! (And to think, it and I were clean moments earlier!)
I run to the bathroom for a cloth, it is only then, the toddler discovers that she can move the highchair towards the table by throwing her head back repeatly.
As I am wiping the mess, she touches the placemat that has an open cup of milk on it, and with a gentle tug, it falls over and splashes onto the chair and drips to the floor.
I realize that she is not in an eating mood (thus the food landing on the floor) and I place her in the middle of the living room so her siblings can entertain her as I am wiping up the first and second mess.
I walk back to the kitchen to grab the rag, and I hear crying...I am NOT out the the living room at this point! She just bit her brother. First time ever!
I tell her "no" and try explain that it hurts, she shows a sad face and I comfort my son. Toddler toddles to the her sister and pulls her hair big time! First time ever!
So, at this point to my kids are howling. As I reach my arm to grab the toddler, she sets her sights on a book. A library book. And continues to rip the book from the cover before I run to her probably .oo1 of a second....trust me, I was thinking Olympic speed . Yes, my kids were hurt, but seeing their special book ripped, caused much more undo sadness.
I grab my lil'est and place her in the middle of the room in her high chair again while I put the broken book onto top of the fridge (that's where the to-be-fixed pile is). Oh, I hear a noise...the garbage truck is coming(I have about 10 minutes)...I can't leave this monkey alone nor can I let the garbage sit another week! So she holds my hand and 'helps me' collect the garbage. Good! It's going well...until I notice that she stinks and needs her diaper changed.
(not to mention, by this time that she climbed onto the table and stood at the edge, ate her brother school supply list, turned on the tv several times (a big no-no!), I caught her mid step as she slipped off the top stairs into the basement, and of course, emptied any cupboard/drawer in her reach...)
As I am just about done, she twists around on her changetable, grabs her soiled pamper and aims a throw at her crib. I catch it mid-air and it's not wrapped up. But thankfully, it's all contained!
As I look at her crib, I wonder if she may be ready for her crib again...this momma needs a break and it's not even 9 am!
So if you take a toddler out of her crib...you'll want to open her window to welcome the sun!...and if you do that, she may just wander into the bathroom...
Though she is busy, she does make me laugh and love!

Yikes! I got exhausted (and frustrated!) just reading that!
But isn't it true -- just when we are about to give up, they do something that just makes us want to love them and squeeze them and laugh with them.
Truly precious gifts from God!
hysterical! :D
your little one sure keeps you on your toes...i loved this story!
I loved this story and it brought back so many memories of my 3 kids when they were about this age. They DO keep you laughing, don't they!! Too cute!
Thanks for visiting my recipe blog and I hope you'll pop back over often!
Oh man - I know you are tired. sounds so much like Isabel. It is always good for a laugh though. I know with three it is so much harder.
oh wow! what a morning!! it sounds like you handled it very well!
Oh my goodness. How tiring. I wonder what Asha will be like in a few months. I may need some pep talk from you. Third child's a charm,eh?
Love this. Oh, how I can relate some days :) But you'll have to include older ones leaving stamp pads out -- bright blue ones -- and baby toddling over - eating it -- and stamping my entire couch!!!!!!! :)
Oh Andrea, I am exhausted just reading that post. I need to go to bed. I knew she kept your on your toes but wow, I can't believe she is that busy...very funny to read about though :) I agree with Christal, it sounds like you handled the whole situation really well!
jmbmommy- you are so right...i did leave that out...seriously, but not a stamp pad but several markers (the day before) that she thought were delicious enough to eat that her sibling left in her reach( if on the table is out of reach) but no colouring on the leather couches...that was last weekend!
funny...no one has offered to babysit her...so joking!
Oh my goodness Andrea- that is some good stuff! I am laughing so hard right now....
And very like 'If You Give A Pig A Pancake'!!
