Words from the wise...

Recently, an older mother stopped me as I was walking with my kiddos in my double jogger. I have been feeling some extra pressure lately trying to balance my family and other responsibilities. At times, this pressure has been overwhelming. As my kids are learning more and growing personalities, the momma guilt seems to be following me in a cloud. So this sweet lady, who has had to overcome obstacles raising her children, had some encouragement for me.

And I was willing to listen!

She said:

*this time at home with our kids goes way too quickly.

* if she would do it again, she would have sat down on the floor and played more Lego and go on more walks with her kids.

* she would have let the grass grow longer before cutting it and more dishes pile in the sink because she could do that all day long now.

*she would have not been so concerned about how others thought about her parenting, just hug and show her kids love...because that is what truly matters.

* and she would have let her kids be kids

So as I look forward to spending the summer with my kids, I plan to take these small and simple yet life life-changing reminders as I parent these amazing kiddos God has blessed me with!


So I choose to take one day at a time, pray more, sit more and show more love...and that just doesn't feel so overwhelming!
