Letting Go...

We know it's gonna happen. It has to happen. It's part of His plan. It's in the back of our minds and perhaps some days, we even plan it and try to imagine our feelings, reactions and picture the situation happening. We tend to worry. We feel like we are losing control if we let it go...but we both know letting go is the only way to a deeper and stronger relationship.
But letting go means we love that much more. It means we see the big picture. It means we look beyond of our selfish ideas to bless and give life to others who we know are desperate to have this blessing and finally feel this amazing act of love.

It's a process.

Each day and sometimes each moment, we pray God's grace to allow this to happen. We cannot do it without His help. We know that if we don't let go we are actually harming, suffocating and ruining the relationship that we, in fact, are praying for. Imagine that.

Everyone can relate to some degree of letting go; whether you are the let go-er or the one needing release. It has affected us all. It's how we react, and make the effort/choice to go against our selfish thoughts and truly love our 'friend' to freedom. No one can make you let go, it has to be a personal choice. But not letting go can result in bitterness and resentment...life is way too short! Passing around some grace from above and just loving will bring more peace and added joy into your life.

It's life. It's so important.

Let me introduce L.J. to this post. L.J. has been part of our son's life for almost two years. L.J. had been a great friend but after losing his home, my son knew letting go was going to happen. We knew this in January. We cried together then. We, just weren't ready to let go then. It became very obvious this past week, L.J. was feeling stifled, lonely and not able to do what God had designed him to do anymore. We cried more tears this week. Perhaps two hours worth on the 'big move' but watching the expression on my son's face as he released his friend, spoke volumes to me...into my own life. Not only does L.J. have freedom but my son is full of peace. He still talks about L.J. but their relationship has more love in it today than when my son's control made their relationship hit rock bottom (literally).

You had me going and yes I know it is a true story but I was totally fooled until the end. Hope your son continues to make it without LJ. :)

val- thanks for the offer. we are happy to not have fish right now!

carrie- i wrote my son's story as an analogy...something i'm struggling with right now...it seemed so much clearer to write this though after seeing his perspective of loving enough to let go, and all the healing that comes with that! i feel that i'm on the 'need of being released' side of a relationship...but there's hope, many prayers and lots of healing to come.

Nice post. Have you heard the saying that if you love something enough, you are willing to let it go? I thought of that when I read this. Thanks for the encouraging comments on my blog.

That was sweet! I'm glad he is at peace with letting go. It's so hard to let go.
