Cookies.
I love baking. Baking cookies is something I just love to do. It doesn't take too long to make. And the varieties are endless. There are chocolate chip, raisin, monster, Christmas cookies just to name a few.
I have a favorite recipe of basic oatmeal cookies that I probably make once a week. I was reading the recipe card and it mentioned that you could be creative with this dough and add-in flavors such as M&M's, chocolate, coconut, nuts...the works in my opinion!
Again, this yummy basic oatmeal cookie dough is fabulous. It could win awards on its own. And those that are interested (ME) can go ahead and add delicious 'additives' (for lack of a better word)! Whether it's the chocolate fiesta to the Starbucks Trail mix variety, I love to try combinations and be creative while I bake. I'll be honest...usually it's wonderful.
As I was tasting the cookie dough, I was enjoying it immensely. But I wanted more out of my cookies. This time, I split the dough in half adding an assortment of chocolate chips to one section. And the other bowl, I added flax, more oats, raisins, cinnamon and sunflower seeds.
I placed them in the oven.
They baked. They cooled.
I ate.
They were wonderful. Though they were different flavors, they were still cookies. They still had this in common. My kids were attracted to the chocolate cookies. I preferred the 'healthier' variety, personally. Though, they had different tastes, textures, fiber/calorie counts...my whole family knew that I made oatmeal cookies.
And surprisingly enough, these cookies made me think about my faith. There are many people who have faith in Jesus. And that is wonderful. God has made has each of us and because of this, we have our faith in Him in common. We all serve the same loving God. And I just love that!
And today, that's what I thought of when I made cookies!
