I've been organizing bins, toys and craft supplies. As clean as I'd like them to be all the time, once in a while papers and old markers just need to get tossed. My son was helping me. It was a project for two. I got to organize and my son's job was to toss dry markers. It was fun. Working together. His reject marker pile was looking over-extended at which point , I gave him my empty clay fruit bowl that was on the counter. He finishes his job and tosses his markers. Puts the bowl on the shelf and goes to play. What I didn't realize until sometime later, that the precious handmade wedding gift was teetering on the edge of the counter. How it didn't fall was beyond me. Little tikes with curious fingers are always reaching...but the bowl didn't fall.
(due to my failing camera and my new one on back order...there are no pictures)
I carefully reached over without drawing attention to this near-miss as the ever so slight air movement would have made this heirloom of sorts, crash to the floor...and end up where most of my organizing project was headed...to the trash.
It was a near miss. And thankfully, I was able to catch it before its' fall.
It made me think of me... I was heading down a path. The wrong path. And my Jesus caught me before I fell. The damage would have lasted a lifetime. But he saw value in me, scooped me up in His arms and placed me on safe ground and in the right direction.
That was a while ago but today, seeing this bowl on the brink of destruction, made me think of where I was heading and how hard the fall would how been...only if...
And now, when I find myself near 'the edge' though it's not always an easy journey, I'm at peace knowing that God is near and holding my hand. Just as God has helped me before, I know that He is able and is helping me now. He has told me He 'will never leave me' and I cling to this promise today.
