A labour of love

Three short years ago I was in extreme pain. It was quite a day. I was feeling sore and the pain got unbearable.
Terribly.
It only got worse.
I would pray. I was a mess.
On top of that, there were complications and concerns.
Being in labour (for the first time without pain medications) was so intense. I couldn't focus on the outcome. After more hours than I chose to count, I was told I needed an emergency c-section as baby wasn't doing well. Thankfully, it was virtually painless and the end would be in sight.
During this traumatic time, Kris and I just kept thinking (seeing as though it was Good Friday and all) it spoke volumes to what our Savior did for us on the cross...for us and you too. There was nothing good about the day but because of the pain, we celebrated the birth of life. Much like Good Friday, because of what Jesus did for us, we have the opportunity to celebrate life!
It was quite an experience to go through the labour...which cannot even come close to the pain our Savior went through, but it felt very practical (and painful) analogy going through it on Good Friday, that I will never forget.
I have so much appreciation for the little bundle God allowed to be placed in my arms and my care.
And I am so thankful that He is holding me is His arms.
Because of giving of His life, He gave me mine!
I am so thankful!
(incidentally, I have only memories as I lost a year including all my baby pictures of her)

Wow, to think that was three years ago! But what a good way to be reminded of our Saviour's pain for us. Because he loves us! And sniff, sniff, sorry about the lost pictures. :(
