I think about how God has led me through my journey of a young woman to a mommy of three beautiful children and now listening to God's call again. I said yes to God...not without some concerns, opposing pressures from others and ...though I know I am in good hands and desire to trust, the unseen and unknown future can be scary. Downright knee shaking!
But I did say yes! To God's call for our family. I said yes after months of God's shoulder tapping. I have started reading a book that has bought me to tears. I feel like I am the author. It is called "What Happens When Women Walk In Faith" and is written by Lysa Terkeurst (president of Proverbs 31 Ministries). She is telling the story through faith of how God told her to adopt two children from Liberia. She was a busy writer and speaker, with three young daughters and her and her husband felt at peace in their life...until He nudged them. What a faith journey!
We have three healthy children, a paycheck that allows for our needs and some wants, and I can stay home and raise our kids. Why change this life for unknowns? We are comfortable and now God is asking us to stretch outward and upward and listen to His call.
This is an excerpt from the chapter I read this morning...
"Has it been easy? No. I left my comfort zone and entered into a famine place where I am forced to depend on God like never before. Are there days I feel like tearing my hair out and wish I had less laundry, less messes, lower grocery bills, and more "me" time. Yes. But this life is not about me. It's about joining hands with Jesus to fulfill whatever tasks He sets before me and to share His love with all He brings my way...
What is God calling you to do His way today? You may never be called to adopt children from a foreign land, but God is calling you, wooing you, pursuing you, inviting you to something richer with Him. May your ordinary be invaded with His extraordinary invitation to press through the famine phase and to live life His way!"
As you spend time preparing for this Christmas season, take time to listen to Him. The peace He has given me and the faith I have on this journey, is incredible! I encourage you to say yes...whatever His 'yes' for your life is!
