We were driving to my parents this afternoon. Our family conversation included talking about their favorite things to do. Our son just loves taking shots with a tennis ball or puck or anything he can raise his hockey stick with in our basement.
This is how the conversation went while we drove:

Dad: I'm so proud of you hitting that ball so hard. You really have a strong arm and you shoot the ball with quite force.

Son: Thanks Dad! I really have lots of fun.

Dad: So what are you aiming at when you shoot the ball?

Son: Just the window!

Kris and I burst into (silent) laughter. We are just counting our blessings that we asked the right questions. We have quite the hockey basement with team logos painted on our walls, two goalie nets and plywood walls. As we are going through this journey, we are discovering that it's not about assumption but asking the right questions.
