As we walked, talked and laughed, I noticed something. Every few steps, they crouched down to pick up a rock. At one point, I asked them to stop so their hands wouldn't get dirty. I took back my word, once I realized what they were doing.
They were finding the best rocks to hold in their hand.
They were so proud.
So happy...for they had gems.
I saw dirt, mud and dull rocks on a gravel road...but to my daughters they found the best jewels and continued to search for more.
Then it hit me...
How many times to I look for the best...in people? Where others see dull, annoying, 'not like me' or seem unlovable, what do I see? Do I take time to see the beauty in others? If I had to look for rocks or "diamonds" (in the words of my girls) in the people that God has placed in my life, what would the gems I collected look like? These questions have been really making me think about how I am with others in my life.
So if you are looking for me, I'm off looking for the best...in others.

I find it funny that kids can teach us to see life from a different perspective!
That's a good way of looking at it. Remember those rocks that were black and dirty, but once you rinsed them, they shone like they had gold specks? I can't remember the last time that I took that much trouble to uncover a treasure like that. Sigh...thank you for the reminder.
i love how kids can teach us SO much!!
So good :) !!!
