One 'shell' of a house...

As we are cleaning and organizing our house, getting ready for our move, I am starting to realize something.
A house is very different from a home.
When I walk into my emptier rooms, I used to see walls, the floor and the ceiling. Since moving in though, we have made many memories at our home. 8 1/2 years of memories, in fact. Life changing memories. And one day shortly, we are going to walk away from here...never to come back again.

It does feel weird.

When does the transition from house to home happen? That's what I'm anxious about lately. I realize that the love and care, special pictures and things hanging up will all help. But I as look at my new house..it's just a shell. I pray that many special memories will happen here and looking back, we will feel it as 'home'. My hope and prayer is that whoever enters, will feel our house as a place of safety, comfort and sense love. I am not a decorator nor it is my passion, so perfect it will not be but I do want to make this house a home.
I trust that with God's grace and love pouring through us, those that enter may feel welcome.

It may be one 'shell' of a house but it's want inside that counts, right?

It was hard for us to leave our house, especially when we remembered back to all the memories. But what made it easier was when Asha and I came back to Winnipeg (for the wedding) and drove past our house. I saw our renters putting up their Christmas tree, laughing and smiling. Just think of all the memories they are making in what used to be our house. And yes, the memories that you make in your new house will then truly make it home.

Yes, it is Who is inside...invite Him to be your first in every room. Ask Him to stay...your house will soon be filled with all the goodness that comes with His abiding Presence.

We've moved too often for this to be a problem for me, but I can still sorta empathize.

Is that a picture of your new place? Looks great!
