I have tried many times.
And FAILED!!!
I run back to what is comfortable, my 'normal' and each time I frustrate myself.
I do have will power and the desire...but I can't do this without help.
It's all about choices I make...and knowing that my decisions affect those around me.
I'm talking about money.
I use it, save it, spend it and often regret it.
It seems kinda ironic that I'm married to an accountant with an MBA. He is sooo good at his day job and taking care of our family's finances. He deals with the bigger picture and I handle the day to day needs of our family. I love getting deals...but I find myself buying these amazing deals...when in fact, we don't need them!
I just made a new budgeting spreadsheet to start this year off on the right foot, to record my purchases and to be aware of what's going on. My goal is to continue filling it in and get a better handle on where and what I am spending our money on. I don't consider myself a 'shopper' nor living beyond our means, but I do want to be a good steward of the money God has given us.
To have the ability to walk away from a sale with no bags, to give willingly when a need arises and in doing so, teaching my children to do the same and not fall into this 'marketing trap' of a world we live in.
So my plan for the new year is to be proactive when is comes to shopping and thinking things through before I spend.
Getting a grip...
I'd love to hear your thoughts. How do you decide/spend your money? Do you follow a budget? What works best for you? I am intrigued so I'd love to hear your tips!
See you soon!

Well, being with MCC, we have to account for EVERYTHING! So it has definitely forced us to manage every bit of money (helps if you look at it as not yours).
Even before, we've always had some type of budget for every part of spending and when we reach that limit, that's it. We've also looked at it this way, am I spending more on my luxuries than I'm sharing with others? Is my tithe less than my shopping sprees?
p.s. I love the new background and colours!
