Christmas is...

quite a special time to celebrate our amazing gift of salvation!
Thank you Jesus!
Today, our lil family had the opportunity to celebrate at our home.
Kiddos asked all week up to last night...
1. "Was Daddy going to stay home from work on Christmas?"
2 " Do you or Daddy have any meetings that you need to go to?"
Yes, Daddy was staying home.
And No, no meetings.
We were going to stay at home all day and play!!! Their cheers actually put tears in my eyes, that was a sure sign that, in fact, we've been crazy busy around here...and the kids are feeling it. Today was a really special day of togetherness! For that, we are so thankful!
We did leave cookies and milk for Santa and noticed in the morning...he was very thirsty and he ate 2 (calorie-wise) cookies.
Last minute as kids were listening to Adventures In Odyssey before breakfast, I researched a Baked Oatmeal recipe. Note to self...next time serve the kids something familiar...as it's way to hard to focus with 'ants in their pants'! But we did enjoy it with maple syrup and ice cream. Oh, yum!
We opened gifts, that included dolls stuff, Barbies, and Lego. They were so excited. Kris and I realized that we hit the jackpot in the gifts...and bought too much other stuff...next year, we will buy less! Something to wear, play with, and to read...it's already in our next year plan.
We played in the snow, went for a walk, ate chicken noodle soup for lunch, acted out the Jesus story, read stories, and when the kids were in bed, Kris and I both went on our ellipticals. A great way to burn the first 600 calories I ate today...yikes!
Today was such a fun day! We reflected, remembered, laughed, created and celebrated His goodness! Today, we are thankful for one amazing gift!
Opening gifts proved to be all day fun...with many breaks! They each got 5 gifts and several family gifts/games...not a crazy amount but we took our time opening them up today!
This afternoon, I made Barbies furniture with my oldest daughter! It was so fun and her reactions with the finished products were priceless!
I found her reading in her room...taking a break from all the excitement
After 4 1/2 hours of following two thick books for instructions, they posed with their finished product!
