Sure Signs of Spring

Winter was long. Considering we haven't had snow in two weeks, I'm starting to celebrate this new and wonderful season.

I know that spring is here because:

1. large puddles...very big puddles!

2. bikes out of storage and practising how to bike

3. getting fresh air as a family (it's really blurry cuz I was biking one handed, trying to take this pic when I hit a bump)

4. tulips popping out of the ground in front of my house!

5. flood waters destroying everything in its path...these are aerial pics of my sister's house and nearby town safe so far from the raging water!

6. we are stocked up on band-aids

7. sweeping the floor all day long. This picture was taken 1 hour after I washed it. Seriously...I almost cried!

8. I get scissor happy and start cutting my kiddos hair.

Goodbye short straight bob and hello adorable 'ready for summer' look!

9. rubber boots in my entrance after a busy wet day

10. dirty, muddy and grass staining clothes filling up my laundry baskets

11. SANDALS ( me standing on the last bit of snow I could find...on my neighbours yard and awaiting a pedicure very soon!)

What are your sure signs of spring?

Andrea, i can just hear your excitement for the approach of spring! :-) I am very happy for all of you there that the snow is finally on its way out!! I miss that feeling of the fulfillment of waiting so long to finally feel the warmth in the air. I think that's what makes spring in the North so very sweet!!

My signs of spring arent as drastic or obvious as yours, but they are lovely just the same: the jasmine blossoming and filling the air with pungent perfume, begonias beginning to bloom in abundance, the warmth in the air when we can finally stop heating our house by fireplace in the evenings, the end of avocado season and beginning of more pineapples in the market.

Enjoy your muddy, lovely spring!!

Sure signs of spring....well, ornamental crab trees blossoming (that's my favourite memory of spring as a kid) and of course allergies from the trees and plants. But the extra boxes of kleenex around are totally worth it!!

Oh, and I guess on my current continent, the signs of spring are more rain and less dust and more pineapples and strawberries in the market.
